Tonight's Schicht does not move

The Dienstplan is posted. The numbers arrived. If tonight's shift is unchanged, you are still reporting.

3 min read

The Dienstplan is on the wall. Demand moved. Cover is thin on one side and heavy on the other. The numbers are in. Tonight's Schicht is the same one you printed yesterday.

That is the floor. A screen that does not decide is one problem. A file that does not recommend is another. This is the third: nothing released into the plan you already published.

Decoration stops at the posted plan

The public search results for Dienstplan are already taken. One lane is employment-law how-tos. Another is rostering software that writes the plan for you. A third is a staffing widget you refresh. None of that is this piece.

The empty lane is simpler. The numbers already exist. The Zeitwirtschaft already exists. The published Dienstplan still does not change. That is decoration, not operational intelligence.

A recommendation that cannot be released into the Dienstplan is still reporting. Freigabe is a person. The system can propose a named measure. It does not silently rewrite tonight.

The pattern is the floor, not a sector

This shows up wherever three things hold at once: demand is uncertain, capacity is fixed in the short run, and labour and material must be committed before demand is known.

A line that cannot re-tool tonight. A dock that cannot add a bay. A crew that cannot invent an extra on-call. A ward that cannot create a qualification. A branch that cannot move the close. A venue that cannot reprint the Schicht after the doors open.

Six bands, same pattern: manufacturing and production; warehousing, logistics and distribution; technical service and maintenance; health and care; retail and multi-site; venue operations. A new sector is a configuration, not a new product.

What follows the posted plan

Spectacle sits above the Zeitwirtschaft you already run. It is not Dienstplan software. It does not replace the rostering tool. It does not auto-assign. Named-employee rostering is not a bookable offer.

It proposes a named measure against the plan you already have: this assignment, this cover, this material move, ranked by expected euro impact, computed before it runs. You decide, per measure type, what is automatic, what needs a role, and what stays manual. A legally sealed system is never written to. The Kasse is not in this loop.

The maths happens in code. The language in the model. The decision with you.

If the object model already exists in your trade, twenty minutes is enough to see whether a released change to the floor is worth building. If the data cannot answer the question, we say so.

FAQ

Is this Dienstplan software? No. It sits above Zeitwirtschaft. The plan you already publish stays the system of record.

Does it auto-assign the Schicht? No. Silent auto-rostering is not the job. A named measure is released by a person, or it does not run.

Is this only Gastgewerbe? No. The fit is the operating pattern, not a sector. The six public bands are equals.

Is this legal advice? No. Whether a published Dienstplan may be changed is a question for counsel and the Betriebsvereinbarung. We do not write that essay.

Where should I start? Spectacle. The Insights series is how we write about the operation.
